Your first task
Choose one small task you can easily check. A README update, a launch brief, or a test for a known bug is a good place to start.
1. Open a thread
Section titled “1. Open a thread”Sign in to your Shiba workspace. Start a thread, or open Bots and select Launch bot on an employee you want to work with.
Need a workspace first? Follow Self-hosting, or ask the person who manages your team’s installation.
2. Describe what you want
Section titled “2. Describe what you want”Choose the GitHub repository and branch for the task. Tell Shiba what to produce and how you’ll judge the result.
For example:
Read our product notes and draft a short launch brief for solo developers. Keep it in the marketing folder, flag unsupported claims, and leave it ready for review. Don’t publish anything.
For a code change, name the problem and ask for a relevant test. A focused request is easier to review than “improve the whole app.”
3. Review the request
Section titled “3. Review the request”Read the approval card. Check the repository, task, and whether creating a pull request is included.
Approve it if it matches your intent. Otherwise, reject it and revise the brief. Repository work starts only after approval; if the request changes, review it again.
4. Check the result
Section titled “4. Check the result”Read the response and inspect the changed files. Check what passed, what failed, and what still needs attention.
Keep related follow-ups in the same thread. Reviewing a result doesn’t publish it: decide separately whether to use the draft or publish the proposed code changes.
Next, learn about employees, threads and results, or approvals.
